Job Description: Performs routine (journey-level) rehabilitation therapy work. Provides structured therapeutic programming classes and leisure activities. Writes progress notes used to communicate client information to other staff. Works under moderate supervision of the designated supervising RehabTherapy Technician III with limited latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment. Performs housekeeping duties in therapeutic activity areas. Has no financial responsibility but is accountable for assigned property. Must understand that duties, location of job assignment, and shift pattern are subject to change as determined by the administration to meet the needs of the hospital. Must understand that duties may include exposure to blood or other potentially infectious materials. Ability to provide rehabilitative therapy; to maintain records; to prepare requested reports, and to communicate therapeutically and effectively.
Knowledge Skills Abilities:
Ability to learn approved methods of instructing, managing and supervising patients with mental impairments in the various categories of therapeutic activities. Basic knowledge of mental illness and retardation. Ability to learn the use of equipment, tools and materials/lesson plans used in therapeutic activities. Ability to learn to communication in an effective/appropriate manner. Physical ability to perform PMAB & CPR. Ability to enter progress notes used to communicate client information to other concise reports, and to communicate effectively and therapeutically. Preferred Qualifications: Experience assisting in therapeutic activities. Experience managing and supervising psychiatric patients. Specific training in mental health issues. Texas Drivers License. Bilingual. Certification as a van driver. Commercial drivers license. Certified in sign language. Experience in Microsoft Office software. Certified lifeguard.
Registration or Licensure Requirements:
Valid Texas drivers license.
